An excellent drink, highly regarded by professional bartenders, as it is the essential ingredient for creating perfect cocktails.
Vermouth is a fortified, aromatic wine, which when added to cocktails, reduces the alcohol content of a strong alcoholic beverage such as whiskey, vodka or gin, thus offering the possibility of better appreciation of the aromatic and flavor nuances.
Vermouth, dry or sweet, can be enjoyed on the rocks or neat, as an aperitif. The sweet one is drunk with a little more ice. With soda or tonic and a slice of orange or lime, it takes on a different, distinct flavor.
Some of the most famous cocktails where Vermouth is used are:
Martini : By mixing Vermouth Dry with Gin or Vodka, we have Martini Dry.
Negroni: A slightly sweet cocktail, made with Gin, Campari and sweet Vermouth, in equal parts. Gin can sometimes be replaced by Whiskey.
Manhattan : The addition of sweet Vermouth gives a special tone to whiskey cocktails.
